Non-Nano November Writing Plan
Writing goals without the word count
It’s almost time for one of the biggest writing events online; NaNoWriMo. In 30 days, through the month of November, millions of writers will set out to get 50,000 words on paper. It’s intense, it’s amazing, it’s nerve-racking, but this year, it’s not for me. I will not be participating in Nano this year, but that doesn’t mean I’m not putting together a writing plan for the month.
In order to reach their goal, a writer must hit an average word count of 1,666 per day. Most writers I know will do about a week’s worth in the first 24 hours. The problem is that I know that right now, I can’t commit to that. So I’m going to set my own goals for the month of November and work on writing at least one blog post/article/short story/poem per day for the entire month.
I know there’s an entire month set aside for blogging each day and I know that many times here on Medium, people work on posting an article a day for an entire month. But I’m a realist. I can bang something out every day, but that’s not to say that it will be something that anyone will want to read. I’d rather just not write at all than produce some drivel just to say I posted something. However, I do have a way to break it up and produce pieces I can be proud to show without it becoming stale.
