One of the first things I learned from being on Illumination is that it’s important for writers to have a way to showcase their work. I’ve been watching the way other authors, such as Dr Mehmet Yildiz and J.A. Taylor, have put their portfolios together and came up with something I think I can be proud of. I invite you all to take a stroll through the world of Christine Graves.
I’ve been writing on Medium for almost three years. Between May of 2018 and December 2020, I’d written over 200 articles, stories, and poems. …
With the latest announcement from Medium, it seems I’ve acquired a whole new group of followers. Medium is now requiring that writers have a minimum of 100 followers, (by Dec. 31st, 2021) in order to get paid for their stories. Okay, I get that.
I also understand that in order to get followers, you must be a follower yourself. People won’t just magically show up on your page once you join the platform. Trust me, I’ve been here a while. It doesn’t happen overnight. It’s always a good idea to follow some of the more popular writers on the site…
My mother took my brother and me to a gift shop, giving us her usual Don’t Touch Anything spiel. I ventured over to the jewelry counter while my brother headed for the sunglass rack to make faces in the mirror.
Mother picked out a set of crystal salt-and-pepper shakers and a card. When she turned around to call us kids, she saw my brother’s reflection in the mirror, sunglasses on his face.
“Joshua,” she cried. “What did I tell you?”
When he turned around, he had a pair of sunglasses on his face, one hanging off his collar, one hanging…
Life After Death — Chapter 4
Hey, there you are. Feeling better? Yea, those Moon Flower tonics have put more than one being on the floor. I’ll have Kregar fix you up a nice bowl of greevell soup. It’s just the thing to get you on your feet again. Greevell are a delicacy on his planet. Kind of like a mouse with fangs. Oh, sorry. Didn’t mean to freak you out. Trust me, it tastes great.
Anyway, drink this. It’s a cup of my own blend of tea.
Of course, I’ll tell you the rest of my story, if you’re…
A lone woman emerged from the darkened forest, hair and clothes tattered, blood trickling down her face. She rode a black steed, still carrying an arrow in his upper leg.
Lady Flora was the sole survivor of an entourage headed to the southern kingdom of Volnovia. She had been the lady-in-waiting to the princess Ingrid of Grienstad, who was on her way to be wed to the Volnovian king.
Deep within the forest, the party was attacked. The marauders butchered everyone, including the princess. The black steed was hit with an arrow, causing him to bolt. …
Check out the world of the immortals
Hello. Welcome to The Lair of the Immortals. A magical place where the men and women who’ve lived a thousand lifetimes, come and tell their stories. I am your hostess, Christine Graves. If you’d like to know more about the lair and its inception, check out this post —
For the moment, we have two immortals residing at the lair. One whose fame spans nearly 5,000 years, and one who had to die in order to live her fullest life.
Our first immortal is the infamous Queen Nefertiti. In her story, The Deathless…
Chapter 3 — The Deathless Desert Queen
The next morning, I made my way to my grandfather’s workshops. I was excited to get started as this was an amazing opportunity to further my education. I threw a little food into my satchel and made my way out the door. The guards had been instructed to make sure I arrived at the workshops, so I had an armed escort on my morning walk.
My grandfather had instructed the workmen to move all storage jars to one of the writing rooms after they’d been blessed. There were several shelves lining the walls…
Life After Death — Chapter 3
Oh hey, you’re back. I hope you’re feeling rested. How was the spa? Best foot massage ever, right? Gotta love Gorlog. She may not be much to look at, but those cloven hands of hers are amazing.
Here, let me get you a drink. Tonight’s special is a Dresdanian Moon Flower tonic. You get buzzed on the aroma long before the drink takes effect. You’re going to love it.
So, where were we last time we chatted? Oh yes, I was telling you about X.
I don’t know what his true name was, he…
